The Amethyst Crab is a mini-boss provided by the Cataclysm mod and was introduced alongside the Sunken City dungeon. It drops a particular type of meat, which can later be blessed and will aid you in the fight against the Leviathan.
Where to Find Amethyst Crabs
The Amethyst Crab spawns in the Overworld, specifically inside Lush Cave biomes. However, they won’t always spawn, as the chances of them appearing are quite rare, and you might have to search a few Lush Caves before eventually finding one.
As a mini-boss, the Amethyst Crab is not as complex or strong as regular Cataclysm bosses. However, you shouldn’t expect a really easy fight, either. In total, the Amethyst Crab has 200 health points and 10 armor points.
When traveling through the Lush Caves, the Amethyst Crab won’t be hostile, so you can ignore it. During the fight, the Amethyst Crab has a few special attacks it can do. Mostly, it will hit you with its claws and even hit the ground, knocking you up. But there is also an attack where it will bury in the ground, come back out, and fire Amethyst projectiles at you.
Amethyst Crab Drops
The Amethyst Crab drops two items. The first is Amethyst Crab Shell; you might receive around 4 per kill. Eight can be combined inside a Crafting Table to create the Bloom Stone Pauldrons.
You may need to kill a few Amethyst Crabs to obtain enough Shell pieces. The Bloom Stone Pauldrons is a Chestplate that provides +8 Armor, +2 Toughness, and +1 Knockback Resistance. However, it also comes with a unique ability.
When the Chestplate is equipped, you can sneak to bury yourself in the ground, similar to the Amethyst Crab. You’ll then emerge again and fire Amethyst Clusters at nearby entities. This ability has a cooldown of around 15 seconds.
Another item it drops is Amethyst Crab Meat. These can be taken to the Sunken City dungeon and placed on the Altar of Amethyst Blessing. All you need to do is right-click the altar while holding the Amethyst Crab Meat.
After a few seconds, the meat will be blessed. When consumed, it will provide immunity to the darkness, abyssal fear, and abyssal burn debuffs that appear when fighting the Leviathan. The immunity lasts 90 seconds, and you’ll also gain regeneration for a few seconds.
