Night Lich

One of the first enemies you might encounter from the Bosses of Mass Destruction mod is the Night Lich, which spawns in the Overworld. This skeletal creature can fly, and cast an assortment of magical abilities.

The Lich Tower

To defeat the Night Lich, you’ll first need to find the Lich Tower, where it resides. You might naturally come across this tall structure only in Minecrafts colder biomes within the Overworld. It’s made up of Stone Bricks and frozen at the base.

However, they can also be found by releasing Soul Stars. The Bosses of Mass Destruction mod provides these items, and they don’t have a crafting recipe. Instead, they can be obtained by slaying Zombies and Skeletons, with them having a slight chance of dropping them.

It’s worth trying to collect at least five Soul Stars, as four will be required to summon the Night Lich. The extra is helpful in case one is lost. When right-clicking, Soul Stars will be released and point to the nearest Lich Tower, acting like an Ender Pearl, which points to a Stronghold.

Exploring the Lich Tower

The Lich Tower consists of multiple floors. Within the central ice column, Spawners can be found, which spawn the likes of Skeletons equipped with Swords and Chainmail armor. Focus on removing any spawners and clearing hostile creatures.

Four Chiseled Stone Altars are on one of the floors around the middle of the Lich Towers. The Night Lich will spawn when a Soul Star is placed in each Altar. Be careful on this floor, as holes can cause you to fall, taking damage.

Fighting the Night Lich

As soon as the Night Lich spawns, you’ll notice that it will fly, often circling around the Lich Tower. For that reason, it’s worth trying to get back to the ground, and fighting it outside of the Tower. Otherwise, there is a chance that you’ll fall out of the Lich Tower and die to fall damage.

During the fight, the Night Lich won’t get close either, as it instead stays in the air. For that reason, you’ll want to use a ranged weapon, such as a Bow or Crossbow, or an item from other mods. Ensure it’s enchanted with the likes of Power V and Flame for maximum damage output.

There are multiple attacks that the Night Lich will do. One of the most dangerous is that occasionally, it will launch an orb at the player which deals large amounts of damage and destroys the terrain. It will also summon multiple Phantoms which gets annoying, and is able to inflict slowness onto players.

The Night Lich’s health bar is split into four sections. When the health drops into the next section, it won’t regenerate into the next. If you defeat the Night Lich, you’ll receive a large amount of experience, multiple Enchanted Books, Bones, and Ancient Anima, which can be used to craft Charged Ender Pearls, the Table of Elevation, and the Staff of Suppression.
