Nether Gauntlet

Bosses of Mass Destruction adds just one boss into the Nether, and it’s called the Nether Gauntlet. It spawns naturally within the Gauntlet Arena, and is one of the more difficult bosses to defeat.

Finding the Nether Gauntlet

Unlike the Night Lich and Void Blossom, there is no item that can be used to locate the Nether Gauntlet, or its home, the Gauntlet Arena. Instead, players will need to discover it naturally by exploring the Nether dimension.

This process shouldn’t take too long, as the Gauntlet Arena spawns relatively commonly (every few hundred blocks). It will also spawn in a large pool of Lava, so you’ll want to check the ground-level of the Nether.

A large entrance will grant you access to the Gauntlet Arena. It’s safe to go inside, as the Nether Gauntlet needs to be summoned manually, and there shouldn’t be any other hostile creatures inside.

About the Nether Gauntlet

The Gauntlet Arena is very dark, so you may want to bring some Torches to light up the area. A Pickaxe is also required to summon the Nether Gauntlet, so bring one along before looking for the Gauntlet Arena.

In the centre of the Arena is a pillar, made up of Blackstone Blocks. On each side of this Pillar is an eye embedded into one of the blocks. When one of these are destroyed with a Pickaxe, the Pillar will disappear, and the Nether Gauntlet will be summoned.

It looks like a giant floating glove, with an eye on its palm. In total, the Nether Gauntlet has 250 Health points and 24 Armor points. The Nether Gauntlet is also able to fly around the arena, making combat difficult.

Fighting & Strategies

During the fight, the Nether Gauntlet will mostly stay in the air, making melee attacks next to impossible. For that reason, you’ll definitely want to bring a Bow that’s enchanted, alongside lots of Arrows.

A melee weapon can still be brought, as there’ll be the occasional opportunity to strike the Nether Gauntlet with your Sword, dealing high amounts of damage. Players will likely also want to bring Night Vision Potions for clarity, and as much Health Regeneration as possible.

You are only able to damage the Nether Gauntlet while its eye is open and visible. Any other times, it will be immune. Usually, the Nether Gauntlet will open its eye after doing one of its many possible attacks.

One of the most common attacks is when the Nether Gauntlet will turn into a fist, and charge at the player, dealing lots of damage. Sometimes, this attack will be empowered, and when that happens, a large explosion will happen when the fist lands, leaving fire around the arena.

For a special attack, the Nether Gauntlet will charge up over a few seconds, then summon a red laser. This will target and chase players, dealing lots of damage over time. So try to run away from this attack, or use Ender Pearls to escape.

Towards the end of the fight, you might notice eye-icons hovering around you. After a few seconds, these will expire, and hit you with the Blindness effect. Either wait for the debuff to end, or drink a Bucket of Milk to remove it.
