The Moon is one of the first locations you’ll travel to within Ad Astra. Doing so requires a standard Space Suit and a Tier 1 Rocket. To reach the Moon, take off in a Rocket, select ‘Earth,’ then select ‘Moon.’
About the Moon
As expected, Gravity on the Moon is much weaker. So when jumping or throwing items, expect to be able to travel greater distances. Wearing a Space Suit and having Oxygen is a must; otherwise, damage will repeatedly be taken.
It’s also freezing, and you will freeze without a Space Suit. Due to the coldness, water can’t be placed down on the Moon, as it will instantly freeze. The only workaround is to set up an Oxygen Distributor, have Oxygen enter an atmosphere, and then place water so it won’t freeze.

During the night, hostile creatures emerge, which are Corrupted Lunarians. They won’t burn in the sunlight like other hostile mobs typically do, and they attack in a ranged style, firing Ice Shards at players.
Moon Priorities
One of the main reasons to visit the Moon is to get acquainted with Ad Astra. Work on creating a Moon Base, which should have an atmosphere provided by an Oxygen Distributor.
One of the primary resources that should be collected on the Moon is Desh, a new type of metal. From it, valuable items can be created like Desh Cables, Desh Fluid Pipes, Oxygen Distributors, Water Pumps, Solar Panels, Rovers, and the Netherite Space Suit, which will allow you to venture into more hostile planets.

There are plenty of locations to obtain Desh. It can be found naturally inside Moon Stone, deep underground, where it can be mined. Or searching Chests within structures on the Moon also give a high chance of containing Desh Ingots.
Lunar Tower
One of the most significant structures that can be found on the Moon is the Lunar Tower. It should be easily noticeable, as it looks like a giant lighthouse with a large glass dome on the top. Within Lunar Towers are Lunarians, which are a new species of villagers that live on the Moon.

Like Villagers, they can take up different professions using job blocks. So you might find Lunarians that are Weaponsmiths, Librarians, and Toolsmiths, like in the Overworld. They also offer similar trades, offering some items from the Ad Astra mod and using Emeralds as currency. When traveling to the Moon, bring a healthy supply of Emeralds to trade for items you might have forgotten to bring.

Quite a lot of Lunarians inhabit the Lunar Tower. You’ll find more with different professions as you work your way up. There are also Chests containing loot. They’ll contain Moon-related items like Moon Sand, Cheese, and Desh. There will also be Soul Torches, which aren’t extinguished on the Moon, whereas regular Torches are.
Moon Dungeon
Another structure is the Moon Dungeon, with the entrance poking just above the surface. To enter the Moon Dungeon, you may need to break through the Moon Sand and Moon Stone with a Pickaxe or Shovel.
The structure is very maze-like, so getting lost is pretty simple. It’s filled with Spawners, which summon hostile mobs like Corrupted Lunarians and Star Crawlers, which can be found all throughout the dungeon. Try to remove the Spawners, then search the Chests.

Once again, you’ll receive lots of loot like Cheese, Moon Sand, Redstone, Space Paintings, Ice, and Ice Shards. Within the Moon Dungeon, you can also find lots of Raw Desh Ore which can be mined, and the Moon Globe, which can be taken as a decorative trophy.
Lunarian Village
Finally, there’s the Lunarian Village, which can be found underground. Down here, there are plenty of Lunarians to trade with, who have all different professions. There is even a Villager tending to a Warped Tree, which can be chopped down if you need a wood supply.

The structure is very well-lit, thanks to Glowing Iron Pillars being placed along the rooms and corridors. Other functional blocks found here include Furnaces, Crafting Tables, Cauldrons, Anvils, Smokers, Blast Furnaces, and Chests containing loot.
