Crafting the Bridge Building Gun
Crafting the Bridge Building Gun is a bit complicated, and 3 different items need to be crafted and assembled. These are the Bridge Building Gun Hook, Barrel and Stock. Use the slideshow below to look through each process of crafting the tool.
In total, you’ll need 13 Iron Ingots, 3 Vines, 3 String, 2 Planks, 1 Flint & Steel and 1 Gunpowder to craft the Bridge Building Gun. The Recipe does require Rope which is a new crafting material. However 8 of these can easily be crafted from 3 Vines and 3 String.
Building a Rope Bridge
Before being able to build a Rope Bridge, you’ll need to collect plenty of Slabs and Rope. Previous versions of Minecraft, like 1.12.2 and below are still using String instead of Rope. The Rope Bridge will use these items, and take them from your inventory depending on how far the Bridge needs to go.
Once you have enough Slabs and Rope, equip the Bridge Building Gun. Hold down the right mouse button while looking at a block, and a Rope Bridge will start to be constructed.
Sometimes, it won’t work. There might not be enough materials in your inventory. Or the Bridge might need to span too far, or go to steep. In which case you should either find a better location, or build to resolve the issues.
The mod also introduces a Rope Ladder Gun, the mods latest item. Luckily, the recipe is relatively similar to the Bridge Building Gun, with just a different head piece.
Like the Bridge Building Gun, it requires materials to work. Specifically lots of Rope and Ladder pieces.
When using the Ladder Gun on the side of a block, it will drop a Ladder, as shown on the image above. It’s more for descending from heights, not trying to ascend. Even though it gives a fast and safe way to reach the ground, there’s an even better feature.
The Ladder that’s created by the Ladder Gun doesn’t need to be attached to a block (after the first few pieces). It’s able to float freely for hundreds of blocks if necessary, without any support.

How to InstallIf you haven't already, make sure to install Forge for Minecraft. It's a simple process and takes just a few minutes. Once Forge is installed:
- Download the mod for your Minecraft Version. It will be a .JAR file.
- Take this file, and place it in the 'mods' folder of your Minecraft directory. If this folder doesn't exist, create it. The easiest way to access your Minecraft directory is opening the game, going to Resource Packs and pressing the 'Open Resource Pack Folder' button.
- Once it's inside the mods folder, run Minecraft with the Forge preset selected. The mod will be installed and can be played with in-game.
