Ottercraft adds Otters into Minecraft, who can be tamed and taken on adventures with you. They’re cute and curious creatures, and wear little life jackets. They don’t offer a lot gameplay wise, but the developer has big plans for them.

Firstly, you’ll need to actually find an Otter. They can be found spawning naturally in Minecrafts Swamp and River Biomes. Often, they’ll spawn in groups, and will curiously wander around the area. These animals are semi-aquatic, so they’ll play both on land and in the water.
You can try taming an Otter by feeding it some Raw Cod or Raw Salmon. Like any other creatures, hearts will radiate if you’ve tamed them successfully.
A tamed Otter will be wearing a yellow life jacket. By using a Dye on them, you can change the color of the life jacket to any color you want. They’ll follow you around, and you can right click on an Otter to make it sit.
You can also breed Otters, to create babies. First, you’ll need to tame 2 Otters, and then feed them both Raw Cod or Raw Salmon, and they’ll create a baby. Babies are already tamed, and can be told to sit.
The developer has some big plans for this mod. It’s hopeful that in future updates, Otters will have better AI so you can watch them play. There might also be large Otters, which you can ride throughout your world.

How to InstallIf you haven't already, make sure to install Forge for Minecraft. It's a simple process and takes just a few minutes. Once Forge is installed:
- Download the mod for your Minecraft Version. It will be a .JAR file.
- Take this file, and place it in the 'mods' folder of your Minecraft directory. If this folder doesn't exist, create it. The easiest way to access your Minecraft directory is opening the game, going to Resource Packs and pressing the 'Open Resource Pack Folder' button.
- Once it's inside the mods folder, run Minecraft with the Forge preset selected. The mod will be installed and can be played with in-game.
