Eiswein is a chilled white wine that grants the Frosty Armor effect, a unique buff that simultaneously increases your armor and attack damage at the cost of slowing you down. It is one of the more demanding wines to produce because it requires White Taiga Grapes, which only grow in cold biomes, and a 
Snowball as an extra ingredient during fermentation.
If you are building toward tanky close-range combat or want a defensive edge in short, intense encounters, Eiswein is one of the most effective wines in the mod.
Obtaining
You ferment Eiswein entirely in the 
Fermentation Barrel. Place 
White Taiga Grapejuice into the barrel, then add a Snowball to the ingredient slot and a 
Wine Bottle to the bottle slot. After 5 minutes of fermentation (6000 ticks), the barrel produces one Eiswein bottle.
Getting White Taiga Grapejuice takes several steps. First, grow White Taiga Grapes from White Taiga Grape Seeds, which you can find growing naturally in Taiga biomes or buy from a Winemaker Villager. Once you have grapes, craft nine White Taiga Grapes into a White Taiga Grape Bag and then stomp them in a 
Grapevine Pot to produce White Taiga Grapejuice.
Pour that juice into the Fermentation Barrel until you have at least 10 units stored, add the Snowball and Wine Bottle, and let the barrel do the rest.
Do not forget the Snowball. Eiswein is one of the only wines that requires an additional ingredient beyond juice and a bottle. Without the Snowball in the ingredient slot the fermentation will not start.
Usage
Right-click with Eiswein in hand to drink it. Drinking the bottle returns an empty Wine Bottle to your inventory, so you do not lose the glass. The Frosty Armor effect applies immediately and lasts 1:30 at base level.
Frosty Armor Effect
Frosty Armor gives you +4 Armor and +2 Attack Damage for the duration, making it a strong combat buff that stacks offense and defense in a single drink. The downside is a 5% reduction to Movement Speed. At base level the tradeoff is modest, you become slightly slower but hit harder and absorb more damage, which suits melee fighters well.
While the effect is active, your character is treated as standing in Powder Snow, which produces a subtle icy particle effect. This is purely cosmetic at base level and does not cause freezing damage.
At higher effect levels gained through aging (see below), the effect also gradually increases your frozen ticks, which can eventually slow you or deal freezing damage if the wine is very old. In practice, freshly brewed Eiswein produces no freezing at all.
Wine Aging
Like all wines in Vinery, Eiswein scales with age. Every 24 in-game days counts as one year, and every 6 years the effect gains one level. At Level II (6 years), the attribute bonuses double to +8 Armor and +4 Attack Damage, but the speed penalty also doubles to -10%.
The effect duration also grows by 10 seconds per year from a base of 1:30, reaching a maximum of 12:30. The effect caps at level V after 30 in-game years.
Eiswein only ages when stored in Vinery-specific storage blocks such as Wine Racks or Wine Boxes. Bottles in regular Minecraft chests do not accumulate aging time and remain at age zero indefinitely. If your wine still shows the base 1:30 duration after days of waiting, move the bottles into a Wine Rack immediately.

Further Uses
Eiswein counts toward the “Wine Sommelier” advancement, which requires you to collect every wine variant in the mod. It is one of 25 wines that must be obtained to earn this challenge reward. You can also place it in a Wine Rack as decoration by crouching and right-clicking the rack while holding the bottle.
Tips
Use Eiswein just before entering a fight rather than partway through. The speed penalty is most noticeable when you are trying to retreat or reposition, so commit to it when you know you are staying in melee range. Pairing it with armor that already has good coverage lets the +4 Armor push you over key damage reduction thresholds sooner.
Collect White Taiga Grape Seeds early in your playthrough so you can set up a Taiga grape farm before you need the wine. The Snowball ingredient is easy to acquire in any Taiga or snowy biome, but the juice itself takes time to grow and process. Experienced players recommend growing White Taiga Grapes on 
Grapevine Stems rather than directly in the ground: stems yield roughly four to six grapes per harvest compared to one or two from soil planting, making a significant difference when you need nine grapes per bag.
Taiga varieties also produce more when the soil beneath the stems is 
podzol or 
coarse dirt, so either a natural Taiga floor or a small prepared patch is the ideal growing location.
Aging Eiswein is worthwhile if you have old bottles sitting in storage. Even a few years of age noticeably extends the duration past the default 1:30, and reaching Level II at 6 years provides a substantial bonus for fights where high armor is critical. However, the freezing side effect at higher levels means very old Eiswein is best saved for short bursts rather than extended exploration.

Frosty Armor adds +4 Armor and +2 Attack Damage, and reduces your Movement Speed by 5%. At base level it also applies a cosmetic Powder Snow visual with no other gameplay effect. At higher levels from aging, all three modifiers scale up and the effect can begin increasing your frozen ticks, potentially causing freezing if sustained long enough.
Eiswein requires three things to be present at once: White Taiga Grapejuice in the barrel’s fluid (at least 10 units), a Snowball in the ingredient slot, and a Wine Bottle in the bottle slot. If any of these is missing or the wrong juice type is stored, fermentation will not begin. Make sure you are using White Taiga Grapejuice specifically, not another variety.

Fresh Eiswein does not cause freezing. The freezing mechanic only activates at effect level II or higher, which requires the wine to have aged at least 6 in-game years (144 game days). Even then, the rate of freezing depends on the amplifier level, and short-duration exposure at level II is unlikely to reach the threshold for actual freezing damage.
