Chorus Wine

Chorus Wine is unlike any other wine in the mod. Instead of granting a lingering status effect, drinking it instantly teleports you forward in the direction you’re looking, launching you up to 12 blocks ahead with no fall damage on arrival.

It works like a safer, repeatable Ender Pearl. A single bottle of Red Taiga Grapejuice also yields three batches, making Chorus Wine one of the more efficient wines to produce in bulk. The trade-off is that Chorus Fruit requires access to The End, making this a late-game brew.

Obtaining

You brew Chorus Wine in the Fermentation Barrel. Add Red Taiga Grapejuice to the juice slot until the barrel holds at least 8 fluid units, place a Chorus Fruit in one of the ingredient slots, and put a Wine Bottle in the bottle slot. After about 5 minutes of fermentation, one bottle of Chorus Wine appears in the output.

Red Taiga Grapejuice comes from processing Red Taiga Grapes in a Grapevine Pot. Each bottle fills the barrel by 25 fluid units, and since each Chorus Wine craft only consumes 8 units, a single bottle of grapejuice supports three separate brews.

Chorus Fruit is found exclusively in The End dimension, growing on Chorus Plant trees on outer End islands. You’ll need to reach The End and defeat the Ender Dragon to access those islands via an End Gateway portal. Red Taiga Grape Seeds can be found through the Wandering Winemaker or grown in Taiga biomes using the Grapevine Pot system.

When farming Red Taiga Grapes for large-scale production, growing them on Grapevine Stems yields noticeably more grapes per harvest than planting seeds directly in soil. Red Taiga Grapes also grow better in podzol or coarse dirt than on regular grass blocks, so players setting up a dedicated vineyard often convert the ground beneath their stems accordingly. Since grapejuice is rarely the bottleneck for Chorus Wine, a modest stem farm is usually more than sufficient.

Usage

Teleportation

Drinking Chorus Wine fires a Teleport effect immediately on consumption. The game scans outward from your position in the direction you’re looking, checking each position from 12 blocks away back to 2 blocks.

It finds the farthest open spot where both the target block and the block above it are clear, then moves you there instantly and resets your fall distance to zero. You won’t take fall damage from the arrival, even if you land from a height. The Ender Eye sound plays on teleport.

Because the scan starts at the farthest point and works inward, the wine always tries to teleport you as far as possible. It only falls back to a shorter distance if the position at 12 blocks is blocked. This means you reliably reach the maximum range when looking across open air, but the wine gracefully handles obstacles by finding the nearest clear spot rather than doing nothing.

Wine Aging

Chorus Wine does not benefit from aging. The teleport always fires as a one-time instantaneous effect regardless of how long you’ve stored the bottle. Unlike most Vinery wines that grow stronger and last longer over time, Chorus Wine has no scaling mechanism, so brew it when you need it and use it fresh.

Players familiar with the aging system will know that Vinery wines must be stored in mod-specific storage (wine racks, wine boxes, or similar furniture) rather than regular Minecraft chests for aging to take effect. For Chorus Wine this distinction is academic, since the effect never changes with age regardless of where it’s stored. You can keep your bottles anywhere convenient.

Further Uses

Drinking a Chorus Wine returns an empty Wine Bottle to your inventory. Because the fermentation recipe also consumes a Wine Bottle, your bottle supply stays level as long as you’re actively drinking what you brew. This makes Chorus Wine self-sustaining on bottles as long as you have a steady source of Chorus Fruit and Red Taiga Grapejuice.

Tips

Chorus Wine excels at crossing gaps and voids. Look across the gap you want to cross and drink, and the wine lands you on the far side without the usual danger of misjudging an Ender Pearl throw. This is especially useful in The End itself, where you’re already farming Chorus Fruit and the terrain is full of dangerous drops.

You can use Chorus Wine to escape from mobs in tight spaces. If enemies are closing in, drink a bottle while looking toward an open area and you’ll immediately jump past them. Unlike an Ender Pearl, you won’t take damage from the teleport itself, so it’s safe to use even at low health.

Stock up on Chorus Fruit while you’re in The End. Since one bottle of Red Taiga Grapejuice produces three Chorus Wines, the bottleneck is almost always Chorus Fruit rather than grapejuice. Bringing a stack of Chorus Fruit back from an End expedition will keep your supply well-stocked for a long time.

Looking slightly upward before drinking lets you clear over obstacles like fences, walls, and short cliffs, since the scan follows your vertical angle. Conversely, if you want to stay at ground level, keep your crosshair level with the horizon rather than angling it upward.

If you’re setting up a larger Chorus Wine operation and want to accelerate your Red Taiga Grape farm, the Winemaker armor set is worth pursuing. Wearing all four pieces (Straw Hat, Winemaker Apron, Winemaker Leggings, and Winemaker Boots) causes bone meal not to be consumed when used on crops, with each application costing a small amount of armor durability instead. Bone meal goes much further under the set bonus, making this ideal for anyone maintaining a steady wine production pipeline.
