The Warped Fungussus is the boss of the Warped Fungussus Nest, a small structure found all over the Nether’s Warped Forest. It’s the easiest of the mod’s bosses to find and the easiest to beat, with 100 health and a plain melee attack. What sets it apart is that it teleports after it hits you, so it’s rarely where you last saw it.

Killing one drops a
Warped Mushroom Cap Part, which is the ingredient for the
Entity Warper, a tool that pulls every mob within 4 blocks to you. The Warped Fungussus isn’t asleep like the mod’s other bosses, so it’ll come for you as soon as it sees you. The nests are close enough together that you’ll usually pass a few on one Nether trip.
Location
You’ll find a Warped Fungussus in every Warped Fungussus Nest, and the nests generate only in the Warped Forest, on the surface among the warped trees. They’re placed every 7 chunks or so, which is by far the tightest spacing in the mod, so any Warped Forest of a decent size will have several. With cheats enabled, the command below will point you at the nearest one.
There’s no Eye for this one, and you won’t need it. The nest is a mound of
Warped Wart Blocks and
Warped Hyphae lit up with
Shroomlights, with a single
Chest inside that uses Nether Fortress loot. Walk through a Warped Forest and you’ll spot the glowing mounds without trying.
The Warped Fungussus itself stands in the middle of the mound, awake, and it’ll notice you from about 30 blocks. Because the nests are so common, this is the boss most players meet first without meaning to, usually while looking for a Nether Fortress in a Warped Forest.
Behavior
Unlike the rest of the mod’s bosses, the Warped Fungussus doesn’t sleep, so there’s no safe distance to loot from once it has seen you. It walks at you and swings, and it’ll go after
Iron Golems and
Snow Golems as well as players. It hits for 7 damage, about what a
Zombie does on Hard, so by itself it’s not much of a threat.
Attacks
It only has the one attack, a swing that winds up for about three quarters of a second before it lands. Half the time it connects, the Warped Fungussus will teleport to a random spot up to 5 blocks away straight afterward, which is what the fight is really about. You hit it once or twice, it lands a swing, and then it’s behind you.
| Attack | Reach | Damage | What to Know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swing | Melee | 7 | A 50% chance to teleport up to 5 blocks away after it lands, and it disables a raised Shield for 2 seconds |
The swing also puts your
Shield on a 2 second cooldown if you’re blocking when it lands, the same as an Axe does, so a Shield buys you the first hit and not much more. Keep swinging rather than blocking, as with 100 health it doesn’t stay up long, and every teleport is a few seconds of it walking back to you.
Special Mechanics
The Warped Fungussus is immune to fire, Lava and fall damage, as you would expect from something that lives in the Nether, and it can’t be knocked back at all. A
Splash Potion of Harming does nothing to it, and neither does a Lingering Potion cloud.
Arrows do work though, which makes it the one boss in the mod where a
Bow is worth carrying.
Since Arrows work and it keeps teleporting out of reach, a Bow with Power is the tidiest way to finish one off. Hit it in melee until it teleports, then put an Arrow or two into it while it walks back, and it’s over in a few rounds.
There’s no damage cap on it and no anti-cheese rule, so it’s the one boss in Legendary Monsters that you can fight from a pillar or from behind a wall of blocks. Its knockback immunity means you can’t push it into Lava, but you can stand somewhere it can’t reach and shoot it, which the rest of the mod’s bosses won’t allow.
Drops
Every Warped Fungussus drops exactly 1
Warped Mushroom Cap Part and a few points of experience, and Looting doesn’t add to it. The cap part doesn’t come from anywhere else, so it’s one per nest, but with the nests this close together that’s never a problem.
Two cap parts go into the
Entity Warper with three
Sticks and a
Warped Stem, and right-clicking with it teleports every mob within 4 blocks to you. Wrap the Warper in 8
Infected Chorus Fruit, which Chorusling drop in the End, and it becomes the
Void Entity Warper, which pulls only the nearest creature within about 6 blocks.
One thing the Warped Fungussus doesn’t drop is the Void Gem, even though the two sound like they belong together. Void Gems are brushed out of the
Suspicious Sand in an Ancient Tower Remains in the End, 1 per tower, and the Void Sword that uses them also takes a
Withered Bone from the Withered Abomination.
Strategy
Any
Diamond Sword will do the job, as there’s no cap and 100 health goes quickly. Iron armor is enough for a 7 damage swing, though the Warped Forest is full of Endermen, so watch where you look. Bring a
Bow for the teleports and Fire Resistance for the Lava, as a fight that keeps moving in the Nether tends to end up near some.
Fight it on top of the mound rather than at the edge, so a teleport doesn’t put it out of sight behind a tree, and don’t bother blocking. Two or three Sword hits, an
Arrow while it walks back, and then the same again. If it teleports somewhere awkward, wait for it, as it always comes back to you.
Because the nests are so common, this is also the easiest boss to farm, and the
Entity Warper is worth having more than once. It’s the tool that makes mob farms and pet wrangling simple, as it drags everything within 4 blocks to your feet, and a spare Warper in a
Chest saves crafting when one breaks.
FAQ
It stands in the middle of a Warped Fungussus Nest, a glowing mound of
Warped Wart Blocks that generates every 7 chunks or so in the Warped Forest, so any Warped Forest will have several. There’s no Eye for it, and you won’t need one. With cheats on, /locate structure legendary_monsters:warped_fungussus_nest gives you the coordinates.
It drops 1
Warped Mushroom Cap Part every time and nothing else. Two cap parts craft the
Entity Warper with three
Sticks and a
Warped Stem, which teleports every mob within 4 blocks to you. It doesn’t drop Void Gems, those come from the
Suspicious Sand in an Ancient Tower Remains.
Every time its swing lands there’s a 50% chance it teleports to a random spot up to 5 blocks away, which is built into the attack rather than a reaction to you. It always walks back, so stand still and let it come to you, and use a
Bow on it while it’s walking, as
Arrows work on this one.
It’s the easiest boss in the mod by a long way, with 100 health, a 7 damage swing and no damage cap, so a
Diamond Sword and Iron armor are plenty. The danger is the Nether around it rather than the boss itself, as the fight moves about and the Warped Forest has Lava and Endermen close by.
