The Warped Fungussus Nest is the Legendary Monsters structure for the Warped Forest, a giant mushroom that generates in the Nether. A Warped Fungussus lives inside it, and that monster and the item it drops are the only reason to go in.
It’s a short trip next to most of the mod’s structures, there’s no gate to open and nothing to summon. You’ll walk in, kill the one monster inside, and leave with a
Warped Mushroom Cap Part and whatever the single
Chest rolled. Two of those Cap Parts are what you need to craft the
Entity Warper, which is really what the nest is for.
Finding the Structure
Nests only generate in the Nether, and only in the Warped Forest biome, so a Crimson Forest or a Soul Sand Valley will never have one. They sit only about 7 chunks apart, which makes them the most common thing the mod generates by a wide margin, and most decent-sized Warped Forests will have one somewhere inside them.
There’s no locator item for the nest, unlike the bosses that need an Eye and the
Teleport Machine to reach. Either walk the biome until the cap comes into view, or use the locate command if you’d rather not do it the slow way. The terrain gets shaped around the base as it generates, so it won’t be left floating over a drop.
If you haven’t found a Warped Forest yet, the biome command below finds the nearest one, and the structure command above only answers once you’re standing in the Nether. Run both after you’ve gone through the portal rather than before it.
You’ll rarely need them for long, as the Shroomlight in the cap glows through the forest well before you reach it. With nests this close together, a Warped Forest of any size usually has one within a couple of hundred blocks of its edge.
Layout
Every nest is built from a single piece, so they’re all identical once you’ve seen one. The bulk of it is
Warped Wart Block and
Warped Hyphae with
Shroomlight set all through it, which is the part you’ll pick out from a distance, and
Twisting Vines run through it in long strands.

The rest is
Warped Nylium over
Netherrack, dressed with
Warped Roots,
Nether Sprouts and a few
Warped Fungus, with
Warped Fence,
Warped Slab,
Warped Trapdoor and a little
Warped Stem filling out the frame. There’s one
Chest, and the Warped Fungussus is in the same room as it, so you’re not opening it quietly.
Nothing in it is locked, there’s no key and there are no traps. The nest is open from the moment you arrive, and that cuts both ways, because nothing is keeping the monster inside either.
Mobs
The nest places exactly one mob, a Warped Fungussus, and it’s in the same room as the
Chest when you get there. It has 100 health and 10 armor, and it hits for 7 damage, around half of what the mod’s full bosses deal. It doesn’t spawn anywhere else in the world, so a nest is the only place you’ll meet one without a Spawn Egg in your hand.
It also won’t despawn on any difficulty, including Peaceful, so a nest you found and walked away from will still have its monster in it when you come back for the fight properly. Its target list covers
Iron Golems and
Snow Golems as well as players, and it’ll go after anything that hurts it, so a golem you’ve brought along will pull it off you for a while.
Nothing else is built into the structure itself. Anything else you run into in there walked in by itself, and in a Warped Forest that mostly means Endermen wandering through. The full fight breakdown lives on the Warped Fungussus page.
Loot
The single
Chest uses the same loot as a Nether Fortress Chest, and it rolls 2 to 4 times, so you’ll come away with two to four separate stacks. The percentages below are per roll, apart from the Rib Armor Trim Smithing Template, which gets one roll of its own.
The Rib Armor Trim Smithing Template is the pick of it, as it’s rolled from its own separate pool and comes up on about 1 Chest in 15. Diamond and
Obsidian are both worth the inventory space, and the
Nether Wart matters if you haven’t found a fortress yet. The
Saddle and the three Horse Armors are dead weight unless you’re planning on carrying them back through a portal.
The structure itself is worth mining as well. There’s a good haul of
Shroomlight in the walls, and the rest of it gives you a good pile of
Warped Wart Block and
Warped Hyphae for building. The real reward is the
Warped Mushroom Cap Part off the monster, which is covered below.
The Boss
There’s nothing to trigger and nothing to summon here, as the Warped Fungussus is awake the moment you’re in range and tracks you from 30 blocks out. Its melee is slow and easy to read, but every hit it lands has a 50% chance to teleport it up to 5 blocks away, so it’s rarely where you left it.
Don’t lean on a
Shield, as each hit knocks it down for 2 seconds, and don’t plan around Fire, Lava, fall damage or thrown Potions, because none of them hurt it. The full attack breakdown is on the Warped Fungussus page, and the fight itself rarely lasts long.
It always drops 1
Warped Mushroom Cap Part when it dies, with no chance roll involved, and the item is fireproof so you won’t lose it to Lava on the way home. The drop also glows and lasts far longer on the ground than a normal item, and it comes whether you land the kill or a golem does. Killing one also gives you the It’s Teleporting! advancement.
The Entity Warper Chain
The Cap Part has exactly one use, and it’s a good one. It’s the ingredient for the
Entity Warper, a right-click item that drags entities to you, which later upgrades into a version you can aim.
Clear Two Nests
1 Cap Part per nest
Each nest holds one Warped Fungussus and each one drops a single Cap Part, so you’ll need two separate nests before you can craft anything. They’re common enough in a Warped Forest that this isn’t much of a detour, and the second
Chest is free loot anyway.
Craft the Entity Warper
Plus 3 Sticks and 1 Warped Stem
Two Cap Parts, three
Sticks and one
Warped Stem make the Entity Warper. Right-click it and every entity within 4 blocks of you is teleported onto your position, dropped items and
Armor Stands excepted, with the
Enderman teleport sound to confirm it fired. It works from either hand and there’s a 7 second cooldown on it.
Upgrade to the Void Entity Warper
Needs 8 Infected Chorus Fruit
Surround the Entity Warper with 8
Infected Chorus Fruit to get the
Void Entity Warper. The fruit comes from Choruslings, which drop 1 to 3 each and live out on the End’s outer islands, including inside the Ancient Tower Remains, so this half of the chain waits until much later in the mod.
The two do the same job at different scales. One grabs everything near you at once, the other pulls in just the nearest creature, and neither gets used up when it fires.
Entity Warper
Void Entity Warper
The Void Entity Warper pulls only the single nearest creature within about 6 blocks, on the same 7 second cooldown, so it’s the precise one rather than the quick one. Neither of them picks up dropped items or Armor Stands. Pulling a ranged mob off a ledge and into your swing is the obvious trick, though it’s just as handy for gathering animals without a
Lead.
Exploration & Strategy
Full Iron is enough for this one, the 7 damage per swing won’t threaten you as long as you’re not standing in Lava at the same time. What you actually want is a weapon with some reach and a way to heal that doesn’t rely on backing off, since the teleport takes that option away from you.
The teleport roll only happens when it gets a swing off on you, so staying out of its reach keeps it where it is. Fighting it inside the nest helps for that reason, as the teleport needs an open block with solid ground under it and the walls cut down the spots it can land on. Out in the open forest it bounces around the full 5 blocks freely.
Splash and Lingering Potions deal the Warped Fungussus no damage whatsoever, so a stack of
Potion of Harming is thrown away on it. Fire, Lava and fall damage are ignored the same way.
A
Bow is a reasonable opener but don’t expect it to carry the fight, 10 Armor takes a chunk out of
Arrows too and it closes the distance on its own anyway. Set a
Respawn Anchor a little way off before you start, because dying in the Nether means walking back through the same Warped Forest with nothing on you, and the monster will still be standing there waiting.
FAQ
It’s restricted to the Warped Forest biome in the Nether, so no other biome will produce one, not a Crimson Forest and not a Nether Wastes. They sit only about 7 chunks apart, which makes them fairly common once you’re in the right biome. Running /locate structure legendary_monsters:warped_fungussus_nest from inside the Nether will point you at the closest one.
The Warped Fungussus disables a raised
Shield for 2 seconds every time it lands a hit on you, in either hand, so it isn’t the axe-style one-off you might be used to. As soon as those 2 seconds are up the next hit can do it all over again. Armor and spacing will serve you better here than blocking will.
The recipe takes 2
Warped Mushroom Cap Parts and each nest only holds one Warped Fungussus, which drops one Cap Part, so two nests is the minimum. A
Warped Fungussus Spawn Egg will cover the second one if you’re in Creative. The rest of the recipe is 3
Sticks and a single
Warped Stem, both of which you can get from the nest itself.
It’s ordinary Nether Fortress loot, so you’re mostly looking at
Gold Ingots, a
Saddle and Horse Armor, with Diamond turning up on about 1 roll in 15. The Rib Armor Trim Smithing Template is the one genuinely worth having, as it comes from its own pool at roughly a 6.7% chance per
Chest. Treat the loot as a bonus and go for the Cap Part instead.
