The Resurrected Knight is the other half of the Haunted Duo, the pair of elite knights that sleep beside each
Somber Trapdoor in the Collapsed Kingdom. It fights with a spear and a Shield rather than a greatsword, and it’ll hurl a Soul Javelin at you if you hang back. It has 190 health, hits for 13 to 15 before armor, and caps each hit you land at 21.

It always spawns next to a Beheaded Knight, and while the two are within 10 blocks of each other they fight as a pair. The Resurrected Knight drops the
Somber Key Ring, which joins the
Somber Key Blade from its partner to make the
Somber Key. Most players kill this one first, and the Strategy section below explains why that’s the right call.
Location
The Resurrected Knight is found only in the Collapsed Kingdom, the buried ruin that generates under Forests, Birch Forests and Plains. There are two in every kingdom, one asleep in the upper halls with the first
Somber Trapdoor and one in the deep dungeon beside the trapdoor that opens into the Possessed Paladin‘s arena. Each is kneeling next to its Beheaded Knight partner.
An
Eye Of Ghost, made from
Soul Torches around an
Ender Pearl, will lead you to the nearest kingdom without the command. Throw it like an Eye of Ender, follow the direction it flies, and throw again as you get closer to the gatehouse.
Once you’re inside, the knights are easy to spot. The trapdoor hall is the largest room on each level and the two armored figures in it stand out from the Haunted Guards and Fractured wandering the corridors.
Both knights sleep until you come within 10 blocks, and while they sleep they can’t be damaged, targeted or hit with anything. That includes
Arrows, so there’s no softening them up from the doorway. They wake together, and you get a couple of seconds of animation before either one moves.
Behavior
The Resurrected Knight is quicker on its feet than its partner and harder to read. It steps sideways out of your swings, pauses to square up before it commits, and sometimes holds its ground instead of attacking at all, so you can’t count on a rhythm. It targets players,
Iron Golems and
Snow Golems and leaves the other Collapsed Kingdom mobs alone.
Attacks
Up close it stabs, either a quick lunge or a slower wind-up that dashes to where you were standing. From 7 blocks or more it throws a Soul Javelin instead, and that’s the attack that punishes anyone trying to fight it with a
Bow. The damage below is before armor, and every hit that lands takes your Shield out of action for 4 to 5 seconds.
| Attack | Reach | Damage | What to Know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quick Stab | 4 blocks | 15 | Fast, and it throws you hard sideways |
| Heavy Stab | 4 blocks | 15 | Long wind-up, dashes to where you stood |
| Shield Combo | 3 blocks | 13, 15, 15 | Bash, slash and stab, only when fighting alone |
| Soul Javelin | 7 blocks or more | 8 plus a little | Ignores armor, thrown when you keep your distance |
| Synergy Bash | 2.75 blocks | 15, 15, 15 | Bash then two cuts while the Beheaded Knight slams, pair only |
The Soul Javelin does 8 damage plus a small bonus based on your maximum health, and it’s ghostly damage, so armor points do nothing against it and only Protection enchantments reduce it. It isn’t a huge hit, but it lands every time you back off to heal, and that’s usually when it hurts most.
Special Mechanics
The pair mechanics run through this knight rather than its partner. Within 10 blocks of each other, the Resurrected Knight calls the synergy attack every 15 seconds or so, bashing with its Shield while the Beheaded Knight slams. It also gets thrown by its partner, and the landing does 8 damage within 4 blocks plus a ring of Soul Pillars at 8 each, which stack Soul Fracture.
Standing 7 or more blocks away is what triggers the Soul Javelin, and there’s no cover in most of the kingdom halls.
Arrows do work on the Resurrected Knight, but every volley you fire from range costs you an armor-piercing javelin in return, so a
Bow is a worse trade here than it is against almost anything else in the mod.
The usual miniboss rules apply on top of that. Every hit is capped at 21 damage, it takes nothing while you’re 4 or more blocks above or below it, and every second hit breaks the blocks around it if mob griefing is on. It can’t be knocked back, it’s immune to fire and fall damage, and it heals 20 health at a time when left alone.
Drops
Every Resurrected Knight drops 1
Somber Key Ring and 1
Metal Debris, with no Looting bonus and no chance involved. The Somber Key Ring is useless on its own, but combined with the
Somber Key Blade from the Beheaded Knight it makes the
Somber Key, and one key breaks the lock on one
Somber Trapdoor.
The Metal Debris goes into the
Resurrected Javelin, a throwable spear named after this knight that does 10 damage and comes back to you if you enchant it with Loyalty. It takes 2 Metal Debris, 2
Iron Nuggets and a
Stick, which is the same set of ingredients as the
Shattered Greatsword in a different shape, so each pair of knights gives you one weapon or the other.
The knights don’t respawn, so a kingdom gives you 2 Somber Key Rings and 2 Metal Debris from its two Resurrected Knights and no more. If you’d like both the javelin and the greatsword you’ll need a second kingdom, or the Metal Debris from the Beheaded Knights as well, which gets you to 4.
Strategy
Kill the Resurrected Knight first when you can’t separate the pair. It has less health than the Beheaded Knight, its stabs are single hits rather than combos, and once it’s dead the synergy attack and the grab and throw are gone. Diamond armor with Protection IV and a Sharpness V Diamond Sword are enough, and Fire Aspect and Smite do nothing, as it’s fire immune and not undead.
Stay inside 6 blocks the whole time so it never has a reason to throw the javelin, and circle to its Shield side rather than backing straight off, because both stabs travel in a straight line toward where you were. When it sidesteps, let it, and hit it as it comes back in. Eat while it’s mid-animation, not while retreating, as retreating is what gets you speared.
If you’d rather split them, wake the pair and walk the Beheaded Knight down a corridor while the Resurrected Knight is mid-sidestep, since it’s the slower of the two to follow. Once they’re more than 10 blocks apart neither one has its pair attacks, and the Resurrected Knight on its own is a stab-and-sidestep fight that a patient player wins without taking much damage.
FAQ
Only in the Collapsed Kingdom, under Forests, Birch Forests and Plains, where two of them sleep beside the two
Somber Trapdoors, each next to a Beheaded Knight. Find a kingdom with /locate structure legendary_monsters:collapsed_kingdom or an
Eye Of Ghost, then look for the big trapdoor hall on each level.
Always 1
Somber Key Ring and 1
Metal Debris. Combine the ring with the
Somber Key Blade from the Beheaded Knight to make a
Somber Key for the trapdoor. The Metal Debris, 2 of it with 2
Iron Nuggets and a
Stick, crafts the
Resurrected Javelin or the
Shattered Greatsword.
Kill the Resurrected Knight first, because it has less health and its attacks are single stabs instead of five-hit combos. Killing it removes the synergy attack and the grab and throw, which are the two things that make the pair dangerous. The Beheaded Knight on its own is slow and predictable once its partner’s gone.
Not in any way that pays off, because
Arrows do damage it but standing 7 or more blocks away makes it throw Soul Javelins that ignore your armor. Going 4 blocks up or down to get out of reach stops it taking damage entirely, and it breaks the blocks around it every second hit. The fight ends up on the floor at close range anyway.
