The Enderitium Upgrade and the Annihilator’s Upgrade are the two
Smithing Templates in Legendary Monsters, and they gate its End-game tier. The first turns Diamond tools into Enderitium tools and is found in the
Chests aboard the Space Station out in the End. The second isn’t found anywhere, you craft it, and it turns a set of Netherite armor into the Annihilator’s set.
Both of them are simply called “Smithing Template” in your inventory, which catches people out. The tooltip is what tells them apart, as the first gray line reads either Enderitium Upgrade or Annihilator’s Upgrade depending on which one you’re holding.
How It Works
Both templates work through an ordinary
Smithing Table, exactly the way the vanilla Netherite Upgrade does. The template goes in the left slot, the gear you’re upgrading goes in the middle, and the material goes on the right. Your enchantments carry over to the new item, so there’s no reason to save a fresh
Diamond Sword for the upgrade.
The template is used up every time you pull a result out, which is the part to plan around. A full Annihilator’s set is a Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings and Boots, so it takes 4 separate Annihilator’s Upgrade templates, and the same goes for kitting yourself out in Enderitium tools. Only one of the two can be copied, so the other one needs crafting again each time.
Enderitium Upgrade
Annihilator’s Upgrade
Where the two really differ is in how you get them, as one is looted from Chests and the other is crafted from scratch. The rest of this page takes them in that order, starting with the one you’ll meet first.
Finding the Enderitium Upgrade
The Enderitium Upgrade template only generates in the Space Station, a structure floating high above End Highlands, End Midlands and Small End Islands. Stations sit about 110 chunks apart, so you won’t stumble onto one by accident. Getting out there is the real cost, the template itself is common enough once you’re inside.
Every
Chest on the station rolls once on a bonus pool after its normal loot, and that roll is where the template comes from. The station carries plenty of both Chest types, so a full sweep will usually leave you with more than one.
| Chest type | Template chance | Other result |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Chest | 1 in 15 (6.7%) | Nothing |
| Luxury Chest | 1 in 7 (14.3%) | Music Disc (Obliterator), same odds |
To actually find the place you’ll want an
Eye Of Annihilation, which is crafted from 4
Enderitium Gems around an
Eye of Ender and thrown like a normal one. It searches out to 100 chunks and flies toward the nearest Space Station, and it usually drops back for another throw.
If you’d rather not spend the Gems, the locate command does the same job with cheats on. It hands you the coordinates straight away, so you can fly to the station directly instead of following an Eye across the islands.
The Gems for that Eye come from
Enderitium Ore, which replaces
End Stone in small veins all over the End. Each ore breaks into 1 to 5 Enderitium Gems and Fortune applies, though it wants a
Diamond Pickaxe or better to drop anything at all. Nine Gems make one
Enderitium Ingot, which is the material slot for every Enderitium upgrade you’ll do.
Crafting the Annihilator’s Upgrade
The Annihilator’s Upgrade never appears in loot, it’s a crafting recipe instead. Four
Enderitium Ingots go in the corners, four
End Stone fill the edges, and a
Bottle Of Annihilation sits in the middle. The bottle is the cheap part, as one
Eye of Ender over one
Glass Bottle gives you 8 of them at a time.
The material slot wants a
Portal Shard and those have exactly one source. The Obliterator drops 2 to 4 every time, and nothing else gives you any. A full set needs 4, so one kill might cover it or leave you short.
The Tesseract and the
Atom Splitter each want 2 Shards as well.
The Portal Shards are the top row there. The Obliterator has to be summoned first, by right-clicking the
Teleport Machine in the station with an
Eye Crystal, which is used up.

That crystal drops from the Annihilation Pursuer, three of which sleep in every station, along with a pile of
Enderitium Gems. So the order is Pursuer, then Obliterator, then armor.
That list looks long, but most of it is Enderitium. By the time you’ve beaten the Annihilation Pursuer for the Eye Crystal you’ll usually have the Gems for it already, as everything on the station drops them.
Duplicating the Enderitium Template
The Enderitium Upgrade copies the same way the vanilla Netherite template does, so you’re never stuck with just the ones you looted. Put the template top-middle, an
Enderstone in the center, and fill the remaining 7 slots with
Diamonds, and you’ll get 2 templates back out. That makes the running cost of each extra copy 7 Diamonds and 1 Enderstone.
Enderstone is the mod’s own block and not vanilla
End Stone, which trips a lot of people up at this recipe. It generates in big patches inside End Stone, and mined normally it gives
Cobbled Enderstone, which smelts back into Enderstone in a
Furnace, or bring a Silk Touch Pickaxe and skip that step.
The template is used up every time you take a result out of the
Smithing Table. Duplicate the Enderitium Upgrade before you spend your last copy, because the Annihilator’s Upgrade has no duplication recipe at all and has to be crafted from scratch each time.
Duplicating costs 7 Diamonds a time, so it’s not free either, and a full tool set adds up. It’s still a lot cheaper than another trip out to a Space Station though, which is the alternative once the looted ones are gone.
Progression
The two templates sit at different points on the same ladder, and the odd part is that Enderitium isn’t the end of it. Enderitium gear is a step between Diamond and Netherite, and the mod includes recipes to carry it the rest of the way with the vanilla Netherite Upgrade template. Here’s the order it all happens in.
Mine Enderitium Ore
Anywhere in the End
Enderitium Ore replaces
End Stone in small veins and drops 1 to 5
Enderitium Gems, with Fortune applying on top. Nine Gems press into one
Enderitium Ingot, and that ingot is both the material for every Enderitium upgrade and part of the Annihilator’s template recipe.
Loot the Space Station
For the Enderitium Upgrade
Clear the station’s
Chests and you’ll pick up templates alongside Gems, Bottles Of Annihilation and
Annihilation Lanterns. Duplicate the first template you find rather than spending it straight away, since each copy after that only costs Diamonds.
Upgrade Diamond to Enderitium
Tools only, no armor
Diamond Sword, Pickaxe, Axe, Shovel and Hoe each take the template plus one Enderitium Ingot. Enderitium tools hold 2100 durability against Netherite’s 2031 and mine at the same speed, though they land slightly lower on damage, with the
Enderitium Sword at 7.5 versus 8 on a
Netherite Sword. There is no Enderitium armor, so your body slots stay on Diamond or Netherite here.
Carry it on to Netherite
Optional, uses the vanilla template
Each Enderitium tool can be put back in the
Smithing Table with a vanilla Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template and a
Netherite Ingot, which converts it into the matching Netherite tool. You trade a little durability for the extra damage and for Netherite’s habit of surviving Lava, so it’s a genuine choice rather than a straight upgrade.
Craft the Annihilator's Upgrade
After beating The Obliterator
With Netherite armor and
Portal Shards in hand, each piece goes through the Smithing Table once to become its Annihilator’s counterpart. The set is fireproof and never loses durability, and every piece carries its own ability, which is covered in full on the Annihilator’s Armor Set page.
Tips
Hover before you drop a template into the table, as both share the name “
Smithing Template” in your inventory. The first line of the tooltip reads Enderitium Upgrade or Annihilator’s Upgrade, and the applies-to line underneath says Diamond Equipment or Netherite Equipment. Sorting them into separate hotbar slots on the trip home saves a lot of squinting later.
Take a stack of
Diamonds to the End with you. Duplicating the Enderitium template on the spot is 7 Diamonds and 1
Enderstone, and Enderstone is already under your feet out there, so you can leave the station with as many copies as you want instead of relying on
Chest rolls.
Count your
Portal Shards before you craft 4 Annihilator’s templates. The Obliterator gives 2 to 4 and a full set wants 4, so a single unlucky kill leaves you with spare templates and nothing to put in the material slot. Bottles Of Annihilation come 8 at a time from a single
Eye of Ender, so the bottle is never what holds you up.
Don’t bother duplicating if you only want a Pickaxe and a Sword, as two looted templates will do. The duplication recipe is really there for the players kitting out a second character or replacing tools that get worn through.
FAQ
It only comes from
Chests in the Space Station, which generates in End Highlands, End Midlands and Small End Islands. Every Chest rolls for it once, at 1 in 15 for a basic Chest and 1 in 7 for a luxury one, so a full clear normally leaves you with a few. There’s no crafting recipe for a first copy, though once you have one you can duplicate it.
There’s no duplication recipe for it, unlike the Enderitium one. It doesn’t really need one though, as the template itself is a plain crafting recipe, 4
Enderitium Ingots, 4
End Stone and a
Bottle Of Annihilation, all of which you can farm as often as you like. The limit on how many Annihilator’s pieces you can make is
Portal Shards, not templates.
The material slot takes a Portal Shard and The Obliterator is the only thing in the mod that drops one, at 2 to 4 per kill. He has to be summoned as well, by right-clicking the
Teleport Machine in the Space Station with an
Eye Crystal, which drops from the Annihilation Pursuer. So you’re looking at two fights before the first piece, either way.
It depends which number you care about, as Enderitium carries 2100 durability against Netherite’s 2031 and mines at the same speed, whereas Netherite wins on damage with the Sword at 8 against 7.5. Netherite items also survive Lava and fire, which Enderitium ones don’t. The mod treats Enderitium as the step before Netherite, and there are smithing recipes to convert each Enderitium tool onward with a vanilla Netherite Upgrade template.
