The
Villager Bible is one of the most useful mid game spell books in Iron’s Spells and Spellbooks, and it stands out for a simple reason. Most spell books give you one bonus, but this one gives you three. It holds up to 10 spells, leans toward the Holy school, and hands you a large mana pool the moment you equip it.
What really sets it apart is the extra Cast Time Reduction bonus. Faster casting helps every spell you own, not just Holy ones, so this book earns a slot in almost any caster’s loadout. If you play a healer or a support build, it becomes one of the best books you can carry before the rarer 12-slot tomes.
Obtaining
You cannot craft the
Villager Bible. It has no recipe and is not used to craft anything else, so you get it through villager trades tied to the Evoker Fort, an illager stronghold where the Archevoker holds villagers captive.

The main source is a Priest, a robed Holy caster who lives in villages and protects them. Give a Priest an Archevoker’s Logbook that has been translated and it hands you a
Villager Bible in return. This exchange can only be used once per Priest.
The logbook starts inside an Evoker Fort, sitting on a
Lectern. When you find it, it is written in illager runes and its tooltip reads Untranslated, so a Priest will not accept it yet. A captive wandering trader locked in the fort’s cages translates it for you, taking the logbook plus 64
Emeralds and returning a readable copy.

The fort’s cages do not always hold that trader. Some hold ordinary villagers, and some hold a rescued villager who sells the Villager Bible directly for 64 Emeralds and a
Book and Quill. Expect to check a few forts before you find the trader who translates logbooks or the villager who sells the book outright.
Priests generate in their own priest house inside plains and taiga villages, so search a village for a hooded figure wearing a
Priest Mask. A Priest will also sell you Evoker Fort Attack Plans, a
Furled Map that points you toward the nearest fort, for 24 Emeralds.

The Bible trade can only be used once per Priest, so line up your logbook before you interact. Priests also buy
Greater Potion of Healing from you for 18 Emeralds and sell a brewed potion for a few Emeralds.
Priests are neutral until you provoke them. If you hit one, it turns hostile, fights back with Holy magic, and refuses to trade until it calms down.
Evoker Fort guards can kill a captive before you free it. Clear out the guards first, since both the trader who translates your logbook and the villager who sells the book can take lethal damage from them.
Usage
Equip the
Villager Bible in your spellbook slot, then add spells to it at an
Inscription Table. With 10 slots you can carry a full kit of attack, defense, and support spells at once. You cast from it with your spell hotkey while it is equipped, and all three of its bonuses apply automatically.
Holy Spell Power +10%
Stronger heals and Holy damage
This raises the strength of every Holy spell you cast, so your
Heal,
Greater Heal,
Healing Circle, and
Guiding Bolt all hit harder or restore more health. See the Holy Spells page for the full list of spells it boosts.
Cast Time Reduction +10%
Cast every spell faster
This is the bonus no other basic book gives you, and it works on spells from every school, not just Holy ones. Shorter cast times mean you fire off long spells quicker and spend less time standing still and exposed.
Max Mana +200
A much bigger mana pool
A larger mana pool lets you cast more spells before you run dry, which matters most during long fights and boss encounters. Combined with the faster casting, you can chain heals and attacks without pausing to recover. The Mana System page explains how your total mana affects spellcasting.
How It Compares
The table below shows how the
Villager Bible compares to the other 10-slot spell books. All three share the same slot count and mana bonus, but only the Villager Bible stacks a second bonus on top.
Villager Bible
Blaze Instruction Manual
Druidic Tome
Tips
Pair the
Villager Bible with a Holy focused kit for the biggest payoff. The Priest Armor Set also grants Holy Spell Power, and Holy scrolls stack with the book’s Holy Spell Power bonus. Priests drop Holy scrolls if you kill them, though trading with them is usually the better play.
Do not skip this book just because you are not playing a healer. The Cast Time Reduction and mana bonuses help any caster, so it works as a solid all around book until you find a 12-slot
Frostbranded Book or
Dragonskin Spell Book.
Buy the Evoker Fort Attack Plans from the Priest before you go hunting. The map leads you straight to a fort, where you can free more captives and loot Evocation scrolls,
Arcane Essence, and curios from the chests. Clearing forts is also how you find more untranslated logbooks and the captive trader who can translate them for a Priest.
If you just want to test the book in a creative world, you can spawn it directly with a command. This skips the Priest trade and Evoker Fort trip entirely.
FAQ
You trade for it. A Priest exchanges a
Villager Bible for a translated Archevoker’s Logbook, which you get from a captive wandering trader inside an Evoker Fort for 64 Emeralds. A rescued villager in the same fort can also sell you the Villager Bible directly for 64 Emeralds and a Book and Quill. The book cannot be crafted.
The Villager Bible holds up to 10 spells at once. That matches the
Blaze Instruction Manual and
Druidic Tome, and it sits above smaller books like the
Flimsy Journal and
Ironbound Tome.
No. Its Holy Spell Power bonus favors healers, but the Cast Time Reduction and Max Mana bonuses help every caster no matter which school you use. It is a strong general purpose book for most mid game players.
Priests get their own priest house inside plains and taiga villages, where they roam like other villagers. The captives you free inside Evoker Forts are villagers and a wandering trader, not Priests, so buy your Villager Bible from a Priest in a village or from the rescued villager in the fort.
No. The Villager Bible has no crafting recipe and is not used to craft anything else. It is a trade-only book, obtained from a Priest or from a rescued villager in an Evoker Fort.
