The Electromancer Armor Set is the dedicated gear for Lightning spell casters in Iron’s Spells ‘n Spellbooks. Each piece boosts your Max Mana and Lightning Spell Power, and the Robe holds a slot where you can embed any spell to cast directly from your armor. If you’re building a lightning-focused spellcaster, this is your primary mid-game set.
The full set provides 20 total armor, +500 Max Mana, +40% Lightning Spell Power, and +20% Spell Power across all schools. It also features an animated flowing cape as a cosmetic visual while worn.
Obtaining
The Electromancer Armor Set is crafted entirely by hand. There are no mob drops or loot
chests that contain this armor. You craft it in three steps: first make
Arcane Cloth, then craft Wizard Armor from it, then convert the Wizard pieces into Electromancer armor.
Crafting Chain
The crafting chain starts with Arcane Cloth, which you make by surrounding any Wool block with 8
Arcane Essence in a crafting grid. Arcane Essence is dropped by many mod mobs and found in mod-added chests throughout the world. With Arcane Cloth, you then craft the Wizard Armor pieces using standard armor patterns.
Next, craft each Electromancer piece by combining the matching Wizard Armor piece with a
Lightning Rune and an Arcane Essence in a
Crafting Table. You can also do this at a
Smithing Table, using the Lightning Rune as the upgrade template, the Wizard Armor as the base, and the Arcane Essence as the material.
The Lightning Rune is crafted by surrounding a
Blank Runestone with 8
Bottle o’ Lightning in a crafting grid. Bottles o’ Lightning are obtained by using an empty
Glass Bottle on a
Charged Creeper. The Blank Runestone itself is found in mod-added structure chests and mob drops rather than crafted directly.
Usage
Every piece of the Electromancer Armor Set provides the same attribute bonuses, with the
Electromancer Robe standing out as the only slot that holds an imbued spell. All four pieces can be further enhanced with Upgrade Orbs at the
Arcane Anvil.
Bonuses Per Piece
Every piece of the Electromancer Armor Set provides the same attribute bonuses: +125 Max Mana, +10% Lightning Spell Power, and +5% Spell Power across all schools. These bonuses stack with each piece you wear. Wearing all four pieces gives you a total of +500 Max Mana, +40% Lightning Spell Power, and +20% Spell Power overall.

Electromancer Robe Spell Slot
The Electromancer Robe comes with a built-in spell slot that holds one spell. To add a spell, take the Robe and a Scroll containing your chosen spell to an Arcane Anvil and combine them. The spell is locked to the Robe once imbued and can only be changed by shriving it.

The spell stored in the Robe appears in your spell wheel and can be cast while the Robe is equipped. You do not need to hold the Robe in your hand. Any Lightning spell works, but spells from other schools also benefit from the set’s +20% general Spell Power bonus.
Upgrading at the Arcane Anvil
Each Electromancer armor piece can receive up to 3 upgrades at the Arcane Anvil. The
Lightning Upgrade Orb is the most natural choice, adding +5% Lightning Spell Power per upgrade.
The
Mana Upgrade Orb adds +50 Max Mana per application if you need more casting capacity. Other upgrade orbs like the
Cooldown Upgrade Orb or
Protection Upgrade Orb also work. A
Shriving Stone can reset the upgrades on any piece and return the orbs if you want to reallocate.
Tips
Prioritize completing the full four-piece set before spending Upgrade Orbs. The bonus per piece is linear, so every piece counts. Two pieces give you +250 Mana and +20% Lightning Spell Power.
The Robe’s spell slot works best with a high-impact Lightning spell like Chain Lightning or Ball Lightning. These spells already deal high damage, and the set’s +40% Lightning Spell Power multiplies the output significantly at full gear.
Because the Robe’s imbued spell casts from the spell wheel without needing the Robe in your hand, you can hold a magic staff in your main hand and still trigger the Robe’s spell on demand. This gives you the staff’s Spell Power bonus and mana regeneration on top of the full armor set’s output, a combination experienced players recommend for maximizing damage on a lightning build.
The Electromancer set uses the same armor material as other school sets (Pyromancer, Cryomancer, etc.), so the armor durability and toughness values are identical. All school sets share the same repair ingredient, Arcane Cloth, making it easy to maintain multiple sets if you experiment with different spell builds.
The Electromancer set has an enchantability of 20, which is reasonably high. Protection, Unbreaking, and Mending are all worthwhile enchantments to apply. Because the armor itself has 0 toughness, high-damage hits will reduce through the armor rating faster, so Mending becomes more valuable in extended combat.
FAQ
Yes. Each piece provides its bonuses independently. You can mix Electromancer pieces with other school armor sets to split bonuses between two spell schools. However, the full +40% Lightning Spell Power and +20% Spell Power bonuses only apply when all four Electromancer pieces are worn.
Both the
Wizard Hat and
Wizard Helmet are valid base items for crafting the
Electromancer Hat. Both use Arcane Cloth and differ only visually. The resulting Electromancer Hat is identical regardless of which base you use.
No. The Robe has a maximum of 1 spell slot. Unlike Spell Books, armor spell slots cannot be expanded with the
Lesser Spell Slot Improvement item. The spell you choose is permanent until you use a Shriving Stone at the Arcane Anvil to remove it.
Hold an empty Glass Bottle and right-click a Charged Creeper to capture the lightning charge. You need 8 Bottles o’ Lightning and 1 Blank Runestone to craft a single Lightning Rune. Charged Creepers are rare since they only appear when a Creeper is struck by lightning, so a
trident enchanted with Channeling helps farm them during storms.
An alternative route is looting them from structure chests. The Cryomancer’s Tower (found atop mountain biomes) regularly contains Bottles o’ Lightning in its chests, making it a reliable early source if you encounter one before you can reliably farm Charged Creepers.
Yes, the Electromancer Armor uses Arcane Cloth as its repair material at an
anvil. You can also enchant it with Mending to repair it using experience orbs while wearing it. The durability values are generous (407 for the Hat, 592 for the Robe, 555 for the Leggings, 481 for the Boots), comparable to Netherite-tier durability.
The set’s bonuses are only partially universal. The +40% Lightning Spell Power bonus only applies to Lightning school spells, while the +20% Spell Power bonus at full set applies to all spell schools. Hybrid builds that combine lightning spells with other schools benefit from both, though a dedicated lightning caster gets the most out of the full set.
