The Cryomancer Armor Set is the dedicated gear for Ice school spellcasters. Each of the four pieces adds 125 Max Mana, 10% Ice Spell Power, and 5% to all Spell Power. Wearing the full set raises your mana pool by 500 points above base and boosts your Ice Spell Power by 40%, making Ice spells hit harder and last longer. The Cryomancer Coat doubles as a spell container, holding one imbued Ice spell that you can cast directly without using a Spell Book slot.
Obtaining
The Cryomancer Armor Set is crafted only, not looted. The Cryomancer mob wears the Hood and Coat but its equipment drop chance is set to zero, so killing it yields no armor.
Crafting Chain
The set builds on top of Wizard base armor, which you then convert using an Ice Rune and Arcane Essence. Start by crafting Arcane Cloth: place any Wool in the center of a Crafting Table and surround it with 8 Arcane Essences. Each Arcane Cloth is one piece of the material used in all Wizard armor shapes. You need 24 Arcane Cloth total for the four base pieces.
Shape your Arcane Cloth into the standard Wizard armor forms: Wizard Helmet or Wizard Hat for the hood slot, Wizard Robes for the coat, Wizard Leggings, and Wizard Boots. Both the Wizard Helmet and the Wizard Hat are valid bases for the Cryomancer Hood, so use whichever shape you prefer.
Craft an Ice Rune by placing 8 Frozen Bones around a Blank Runestone in a Crafting Table. Frozen Bones drop from Ice Spiders at Ice Spider Dens, the most efficient source. Strays also drop Frozen Bones in cold biomes if a Den is out of reach.
With a Wizard armor piece, one Ice Rune, and one Arcane Essence, combine all three in a shapeless crafting recipe to produce the matching Cryomancer piece. Alternatively, use a Smithing Table with the Ice Rune as the template, the Wizard armor piece as the base, and the Arcane Essence as the addition, then repeat for all four pieces. If farming Frozen Bones is slow, the Cryomancer merchant trades 2 Icy Fangs for 1 Ice Rune directly, bypassing the crafting step entirely.
Usage
Every piece of the Cryomancer set provides the same magic bonuses, with the Cryomancer Coat standing out as the only slot that holds an imbued spell. All four pieces can be further enhanced with Upgrade Orbs at the Arcane Anvil.
Bonuses Per Piece
Every piece of the Cryomancer set provides the same magic bonuses: +125 Max Mana, +10% Ice Spell Power, and +5% Spell Power for all schools. The armor point value differs by slot, and the Cryomancer Coat is the only piece with a spell slot. Wearing all four pieces together totals 20 armor points, 500 additional Max Mana, 40% Ice Spell Power, and 20% general Spell Power.

Cryomancer Coat Spell Slot
The Cryomancer Coat has a single built-in spell slot that holds one spell. Assign a spell to it by combining the Coat with a Scroll at the Arcane Anvil. The slot only activates while the Coat is equipped, and the spell is cast through your Spell Wheel just like any Spell Book spell.
This is a genuine extra slot, not a replacement for your Spell Book spells. It is best used for a high-utility Ice spell you want to cast frequently, such as Frost Step for mobility or Cone of Cold for crowd control. Since the slot is tied to the armor, you can swap the Coat in and out to change which spell is available without affecting your Spell Book layout.
Upgrading at the Arcane Anvil
Each piece can be upgraded up to 3 times at the Arcane Anvil using Upgrade Orbs. The Ice Upgrade Orb adds 5% Ice Spell Power per upgrade, giving up to 15% more per piece and 60% across the full set when combined with the base bonuses. The Mana Upgrade Orb adds 50 Max Mana per upgrade, and the Cooldown Upgrade Orb adds 5% Cooldown Reduction per upgrade.
Maximizing Ice Upgrade Orbs on all four pieces pushes your total Ice Spell Power bonus to 100% (40% base plus 60% from upgrades). If your playstyle leans more on mana-heavy spells, mixing Mana Upgrade Orbs into the Leggings and Boots is a strong alternative since those slots contribute the least armor value and benefit most from extra sustain.
Tips
Find the Cryomancer merchant before you start crafting. The merchant trades 2 Icy Fangs for 1 Ice Rune, cutting out the Frozen Bone farm entirely. Icy Fangs drop from Ice Spiders and are worth stockpiling when you visit an Ice Spider Den since you need 4 Ice Runes total for a full set.
Bring a Frost Ward Ring when farming Ice Spiders at the Den. Ice Spiders can grab and freeze you mid-fight, and experienced players treat freeze immunity as standard kit for that location. The ring is equally useful if you visit the Cryomancer’s mountain tower, since the Cryomancer mob is hostile and uses ice attacks.
The set’s 20 enchantability is equal to other school armor sets, so enchanting individual pieces is viable. Enchant your Leggings and Boots first since those slots contribute less to your damage output through Ice Spell Power.
The Coat’s spell slot gives you one free spell, but the slot is shared with the imbue system. If you plan to apply an Ice Upgrade Orb, do it before imbuing a spell into the Coat so the upgrade and the imbued spell coexist correctly. A Shriving Stone can remove upgrades if you need to swap them later, returning the orbs so nothing is permanently lost.
Pair the full Cryomancer set with a Frostbranded Book or a high-tier Spell Book for your main Ice spells. The 40% set bonus multiplies with your book’s spell power, so upgrade the Coat with Ice Upgrade Orbs and use the best Spell Book you can find for maximum output. The Ice Staff adds 15% Ice Spell Power while held, making it a strong primary or off-hand weapon choice for a dedicated Ice caster.
FAQ
No. The Cryomancer mob wears the Hood and Coat but both pieces have a drop chance of zero. You can only obtain the Cryomancer Armor Set by crafting it.
The Cryomancer Coat holds one imbued spell, assigned by combining the Coat with a Scroll at the Arcane Anvil. The spell appears in your Spell Wheel and can be cast while the Coat is equipped. It acts as an extra spell slot separate from your Spell Book.
Each piece can hold up to 3 Upgrade Orbs by default. The limit is set in the server config and can be changed by server admins. A Shriving Stone applied at the Arcane Anvil removes all upgrades and returns the orbs.
The Ice Upgrade Orb adds 5% Ice Spell Power per upgrade, making it the strongest choice for pure damage output. The Mana Upgrade Orb adds 50 Max Mana per upgrade and is a good alternative if you find yourself running dry mid-fight. Cooldown Upgrade Orbs are worth considering on the Coat if you want to fire off your imbued spell more frequently.
Yes. The Cryomancer merchant offers a trade of 2 Icy Fangs for 1 Ice Rune. You need 4 Ice Runes total for the full set, so collecting 8 Icy Fangs during an Ice Spider Den run lets you skip crafting Ice Runes entirely.
Each piece adds 5% to all Spell Power, giving 20% across the full set, but this pales compared to the 40% Ice Spell Power bonus. The set is optimized for Ice school casting. For other schools, use the matching school armor set to get the full 40% school-specific bonus.
