Before venturing out to catch Pokemon, craft these essential items: Pokeballs for catching, a Healing Machine for recovery, and a PC for storage. All require vanilla Minecraft materials like Iron, Copper, and Glass (Except Poke Balls, which require Apricorns).

Apricorns are the key ingredient for Pokeballs. These colored fruits grow on trees throughout the world in seven varieties: Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Pink, White, and Black. Harvest them by right-clicking ripe ones.

Evolution Stones spawn as ores in specific biomes and are required for evolving certain Pokemon. Fire Stones appear in desert and volcanic areas, while Ice Stones generate in frozen biomes. There are approximately 10 types of Evolution Stones.

Catching Pokemon

Crafting Pokeballs

The basic Pokeball requires 4 Red Apricorns and 1 Copper Ingot, yielding 4 Pokeballs per craft. This simple recipe makes early game catching accessible once you find an Apricorn tree.

MCG Holding Poke Ball ( 1x Capture rate) and Master Ball (Guaranteed Capture)

For guaranteed catches, the Master Ball requires a Nether Star, Shulker Shells, and Netherite, making it a true endgame achievement. Each Master Ball guarantees success regardless of Pokemon level or HP.

Growing Apricorns

Apricorns grow naturally on trees found throughout the world. When harvesting a ripe Apricorn, there is a 10% chance to also receive an Apricorn Seed that can be planted to grow your own tree.

This is a blue Apricorn Tree. There are 7 variants of this, in which the Tree is still orange, but the apricorn hanging from it is a different color.

Apricorn trees progress through four growth stages, taking approximately one Minecraft day to fully mature. Bone Meal accelerates growth by one stage per use, making farming efficient.

Set up farms for each of the seven colors near your base. Some Pokeball types require multiple colors, so having a steady supply of all varieties saves time during extended catching sessions.

Pokeball Types

Cobblemon features 48 different Pokeball types, each with unique effects. Quick Balls provide 5x catch rate on the first turn of battle, making them excellent for catching Pokemon before they can flee or damage your team.

Specialty balls like the Friend Ball start caught Pokemon with 150 Friendship, while Luxury Balls double friendship gain rate. Both are essential for friendship-based evolutions like Riolu to Lucario.

MCG Holding Cherish Ball and Heal Ball

The Heal Ball fully restores HP, PP, and removes status conditions upon capture. Heavy Balls scale with target weight up to 4x, while Level Balls scale based on level difference between your Pokemon and the target.

Fishing with the Poke Rod

The Poke Rod combines a Fishing Rod with any Poke Ball using a Smithing Table and the Poke Rod Upgrade Smithing Template. The bobber changes to match your chosen ball type, and that ball is used when catching fish Pokémon.

Poke Rod Recipe using smithing table, Rod Upgrade Smithing Template which can be randomly looted inside chests

Fishing works identically to vanilla Minecraft. Cast the bobber, wait for bubbles to approach and pull it down, then reel in at the right moment. Base catch rate is 5%, increasing to 12.5% with Luck of the Sea enchantment.

Fishing works as it does in Vanilla; the bobber is whichever type of rod you have. For example, Poke Red Fishing Rod uses regular Poke balls.

Magikarp caught through fishing can have unique patterns exclusive to this method. Certain patterns appear more frequently in specific biomes, encouraging exploration of different waterways.

Treasure items like Deep Sea Scale, Dragon Scale, King's Rock, and Prism Scale can also be fished up. These evolution items require Luck of the Sea I or higher to obtain.

Battle System

How Battles Work

To initiate a battle, walk up to a wild Pokemon and press R (Or the throw pokeball keybind) while your lead Pokemon is selected. This immediately enters battle mode with both Pokemon facing each other.

Chimchar vs crabcrawler fight

The battle interface displays four options: Fight, Switch, Catch, and Run. Unlike traditional Pokemon games, you can walk around freely during battle, crafting items or repositioning without ending the encounter.

Select Fight to choose from your Pokemon's four available moves. Each move displays its type, power, accuracy, and category (Physical or Special). Moves are executed in order based on Speed stats.

Wild Pokemon can appear sleeping, indicated by a sleeping icon. Sleeping Pokemon grant a free turn to attack or throw a Pokeball with increased catch odds before they wake up.

Moves and Stats

Open the Pokemon menu with M and navigate to the Moves tab to view all available moves. Cobblemon uses the Pokemon Legends Arceus system where learned moves are never forgotten and can be swapped at any time.

Each Pokemon can have four active moves. Use the arrows on the right side to swap moves in and out of your active set. New moves are learned automatically as Pokemon level up.

The Stats tab displays base stats, IVs (Individual Values), and EVs (Effort Values). IVs are randomly determined when a Pokemon spawns, while EVs are earned through battle against specific Pokemon types.

Nature affects stat growth, boosting one stat by 10% while reducing another. The Info tab shows your Pokemon's nature and ability, both of which significantly impact battle performance.

Experience and Leveling

Defeating or catching wild Pokemon grants experience points. The experience bar appears next to your Pokemon's portrait, showing progress toward the next level.

The ui tells us what level the pokemon is, its name, current hp (green bar) and experience progress to the next level (Blue bar).

Higher level wild Pokemon grant more experience. Tauros and Bouffalant in plains biomes provide excellent XP and spawn frequently, making them ideal grinding targets.

Exp Share items allow party members to gain experience without participating in battle. These can be found in loot chests or crafted with specific materials.

Essential Items and Machines

Healing Machine

The Healing Machine requires 3 Copper Ingots, 4 Iron Ingots, 1 Max Revive, and 1 Redstone Dust to craft. Place it in your base and wait for it to charge before first use.

The machine displays six charge stages visually and emits light when fully charged. It continues charging indefinitely even after reaching full capacity, ensuring it is always ready.

Right-click the charged machine to heal all Pokemon in your party instantly. This restores HP, PP, and removes all status conditions, functioning identically to Pokemon Centers.

Pokemon Centers spawn within Villlages, as a large building with a pokemon flag in front of it, inside there'll be a healing villager and station.

Healing Machines also function as villager job blocks. An unclaimed machine can convert a Villager into a Nurse profession. Village Pokecenters may spawn with pre-placed healing machines.

PC Storage

The PC requires 1 Glass, 4 Iron Ingots, 2 Copper Ingots, and 2 Smooth Stone to craft. Unlike the Healing Machine, the PC requires no charging and works immediately upon placement.

When your party is full, newly caught Pokemon automatically transfer to the PC. The storage interface allows filtering by name, sorting by level, type, Pokedex number, or gender.

Boxes can be renamed by clicking the name at the top, and backgrounds can be changed using unlockable wallpapers. Organizing by type or purpose speeds up team building.

Pokedex

The Pokedex crafts from 4 Iron Ingots, 1 Copper Ingot, 1 Bright Powder, and 2 Apricorns of any color. The Apricorn color determines the Pokedex color variant, with seven options available.

The Pokedex can be sorted by region and filtered to search for specific species, abilities, or drops. This makes finding Pokemon that drop specific items or have desired abilities much easier.

Unscanned Pokemon display question marks above their heads. Once scanned or caught, their name and level become visible when looking at them in the world.

Pasture Block

The Pasture Block requires 4 Wooden Planks (any type), 1 PC, 1 Hopper, and 1 Wheat to craft. This specialized storage block allows Pokemon to roam freely in the world rather than staying in their balls.

Released Pokemon can automatically attack hostile mobs when the feature is enabled via the sword icon in the interface. This provides passive base defense while you work on other tasks.

Multiple Pasture Blocks function independently, allowing different Pokemon groups in separate areas. If the block is destroyed, all pastured Pokemon are automatically recalled.

Evolution

Level Evolution

Most Pokemon evolve simply by reaching a certain level. When eligible for evolution, an Evolve button appears in the Pokemon menu below the species info. Click it to trigger the evolution animation. (pressing M, then selecting the pokemon should show this button if it is eligible)

Glameow can be evolved into a Purugly as he has reached level 38, which can be done in the M menu via the Evolve button

Evolution is not automatic. Players must manually initiate evolution, allowing you to delay it if desired. Some players keep Pokémon in pre-evolved forms to learn certain moves earlier.

The evolution animation shows a beautiful transformation effect as your Pokémon changes form. After evolution, stats update immediately, and new moves may become available.

Evolution Stones

Ten Evolution Stone types exist in Cobblemon: Fire Stone, Water Stone, Thunder Stone, Leaf Stone, Moon Stone, Sun Stone, Dawn Stone, Dusk Stone, Shiny Stone, and Ice Stone.

Evolution Stones are required for some evolutions, and usually correspond to its biome, for example water stone found in water biomes.

Evolution Stone Ore spawns in biomes matching its type. Fire Stones appear in deserts and volcanic areas, Ice Stones in frozen biomes, and so on. Mining with Fortune increases yield.

To evolve a Pokemon with a stone, simply give the appropriate stone to the eligible Pokemon. Common evolutions include Pikachu to Raichu (Thunder Stone), Eevee to Vaporeon (Water Stone), and Growlithe to Arcanine (Fire Stone).

Nine Evolution Stones of the same type can be crafted into an Evolution Stone Block for decorative storage or building purposes.

The Link Cable allows Pokemon that normally evolve through trading to evolve in single-player. Craft it with 2 Nether Quartz, 2 Copper Ingots, and 1 Ender Pearl.

Some Pokemon evolve by simply using the Link Cable on them: Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler, Haunter, Boldore, Gurdurr, Phantump, and Pumpkaboo all evolve this way.

Other Pokemon require holding a specific item while using the Link Cable. For example, Scyther needs to hold Metal Coat, Onix needs Metal Coat, Porygon needs Up-Grade, and Feebas needs Prism Scale.

Link Cables can also be found in chests within Villages, Strongholds, Woodland Mansions, Pillager Outposts, Igloos, End Cities, and Ancient Cities.

Medicine and Healing

Berries

Cobblemon includes 70 berry types across two categories: 30 natural berries and 40 mutated varieties. Berries grow on trees throughout the world and can be harvested by right-clicking.

Oran Berries restore 10 HP when the holder drops to half health or below. Sitrus Berries restore 25% max HP under the same conditions. Both work as held items, activating automatically in battle.

Status-curing berries include Cheri Berry (paralysis), Chesto Berry (sleep), Pecha Berry (poison), Rawst Berry (burn), and Aspear Berry (freeze). Lum Berry cures any status condition.

Berries serve multiple purposes: held items in battle, fishing bait for the Poke Rod, ingredients for potions and vitamins, and cooking ingredients for experience candies and stat mochi.

Advanced Features

To restore fossils, build a Resurrection Machine consisting of a Restoration Tank, Fossil Analyzer, and Data Monitor. Place the fossil in the analyzer and fill the tank with any organic material such as seeds or flowers.

You have to build it exactly like this; the tank can be on the left or right of the other two components. Some fossils require two or four to be processed.

Restoration takes approximately 10 minutes in real time. The Pokemon grows visibly larger in the tank as it develops, creating a satisfying visual of your fossil coming to life.

Notable fossils include Old Amber (Aerodactyl), Helix Fossil (Omanyte), Dome Fossil (Kabuto), and the Galar fossils that combine to create Dracozolt, Arctozolt, Dracovish, and Arctovish.

Shoulder Mounts

Certain small Pokemon can ride on your shoulder, providing passive buffs while mounted. To mount a Pokemon, sneak and right-click it while it is out of its ball.

Some Pokemon can ride your shoulder, this button can be found in the interaction wheel on some pokemon.

Pidgey and Zubat provide Slow Falling when shoulder mounted, protecting you from fall damage. Pichu and Pikachu grant Speed, while Luvdisc provides Water Breathing for underwater exploration.

Joltik grants Haste, increasing mining speed. Other shoulder mount Pokemon like Bulbasaur currently provide no buffs but offer a cute companion that waves and animates on your shoulder.

Press F5 to see your shoulder-mounted Pokemon from third person view. Press the Throw Poke Ball button to remove them from your shoulder and return them to following mode.

Structures and Exploration

Cobblemon adds several structure types to world generation. Fossil Dig Sites contain Suspicious Sand and Gravel for brushing fossils. These sites guarantee specific fossil types based on structure variant.

Cobblemon adds new structures, some of which contain special chests with goodies inside, others are fossile sites which can be searched for special pokemon

Ruins structures relate to Gimmighoul and contain ancient items. Mini Dungeons feature Trial Spawners for challenging encounters. Villages can generate with Cobblemon buildings including Pokecenters.

Pokecenter is found in a snowy village, identifiable by its Pokémon banner.

The Shipwreck Cove is a challenging new structure inspired by Trial Chambers. It features trial spawners and contains valuable Cobblemon loot, including the Poke Rod Upgrade Smithing Template.

A Shipwreck suspended in the air in a lush cave, similar structures can also be found underwater.

Pokemon spawn based on biome, time of day, and weather conditions. Exploring different biomes and dimensions (including Nether and End) reveals region-specific Pokemon not found elsewhere.

Tips for Success

Start by trapping rare Pokemon in boats before you have Pokeballs. Pokemon cannot despawn while in a boat, giving you time to gather materials and return for the catch.

Catch a Ninjask from forest biomes early. It learns False Swipe, a move that always leaves the target at 1 HP, making catching high-level Pokemon much easier.

Build your base at a biome intersection to encounter three or more times the Pokemon variety without traveling far. Different biomes spawn different species, maximizing collection efficiency.

Skip basic Pokeballs and farm Gold early for Ultra Balls (2x catch rate) and Quick Balls (5x on turn one). The materials saved crafting weak balls add up quickly.

Use Friend Balls or Luxury Balls for Pokemon requiring high friendship to evolve, like Riolu, Munchlax, and Eevee (for Espeon/Umbreon). They dramatically reduce friendship grinding time.

Pokemon heal slowly over time even without a Healing Machine. Sleeping in a bed also restores party health. Early game, combine these methods before crafting a healer.

Other Cobblemon Mods

Various mods support Cobblemon and add expansive content, like new Pokémon and new mechanics that closely resemble multiple aspects of the world.
