Lord Tromos is the ultimate threat of the AdventureCraft Add-On, a towering undead sorcerer with 600 health and three escalating phases. He does not spawn on his own. You have to summon him through a dark ritual, and once he rises he darkens the sky, clears an arena around the altar, and throws ice storms, fireballs, and waves of undead at you until one of you falls.
The short version of beating him is simple even if the execution is not. Bring your best armor, a strong melee weapon, and a bow with plenty of arrows. Keep hitting him constantly so he cannot heal, survive each phase change, and adapt as he switches between ground brawling and airborne casting. Win and he drops the Soul Binder, one of the best weapons in the entire add-on.
Summoning Lord Tromos
There is no spawn egg moment in the wild and no structure where Lord Tromos waits for you. He only appears when you perform the cult’s summoning ritual, so the whole fight starts with collecting the right ingredients.
First you need Torn Pages of the Ritual. These uncommon scraps turn up in the chests of the Cultist Hideout, and the cult’s followers occasionally drop them when killed. Gather at least eight of them along with a single Book.
Next, craft the Dark Codex. Place a Book in the center of a crafting table and surround it with eight Torn Pages of the Ritual to bind them into the epic tome.
Finally, set the ritual itself. Place the Dark Codex onto the Lectern found inside the Glacial Sanctum, then surround it with at least seven lit candles within a few blocks. The candles ignite the pages, lightning strikes the altar, the area clears into an arena, and Lord Tromos emerges with a laugh and a boss bar across your screen.
Lord Tromos is leashed to his summoning spot and will not chase you more than about 20 blocks from the altar. You cannot kite him across the map, so plan to fight him in the arena rather than run.
Behavior
Lord Tromos fights like a spellcaster who happens to hit hard up close. His threat shifts dramatically between phases, but his attacks fall into a few clear themes you can learn to read. He is fully immune to fire and cannot be knocked back, so brute force and lava tricks will not save you.
Attacks
Up close on the ground he swings for 10 damage early and 12 once enraged, with a clear windup before each blow. His Frost Nova sends lines of ice spikes racing outward in all eight directions for up to roughly 20 blocks. Each spike deals 12 damage and slows you, so step into the gaps between the lines instead of standing still.
Fire is his other favourite tool. He launches fireballs that set you ablaze and homing fireballs that drift after you before bursting for 8 damage and more fire, and he conjures more of them as the fight goes on.
He also summons Undead Minion archers, short-lived skeletons that pepper you with arrows while you focus the boss. Cut them down quickly or ignore them and keep the pressure on Tromos, since they vanish the moment he dies.
Phases
Lord Tromos changes his entire fighting style twice as his health drops. Each change is announced by a frost explosion and a short period where he cannot be hurt, so use those moments to heal and reposition.
Ground Assault
Above 66% / 400 HP
From full health he stays on the ground and walks slowly toward you, mixing 10-damage melee swings with Frost Novas, summoned minions, and the occasional homing fireball. This is your best window for melee damage, so trade hits hard while dodging the ice lines and chip him down toward the two-thirds mark.
Airborne Caster
Below 66% / 400 HP
At 400 health he teleports onto an ice platform high above the arena and turns into a pure ranged threat. He rains down fireballs and homing fireballs, keeps summoning minions, and floods the center of the arena floor with soul fire that burns anyone standing near the altar for about 4 damage every second.
He is out of melee reach now, so your bow matters most. The catch is his deflect shield, which has roughly a one in three chance to flare up and destroy your arrows for about ten seconds. Keep firing through the misses, stay clear of the burning center, and wait for the shield to drop to land your shots.
Enraged Finale
Below 30% / 180 HP
Below 180 health he drops back to the ground, moves faster, and casts his Frost Novas more often while throwing even more homing fireballs. His melee now hits for 12, and the pressure is relentless, so save your strongest potions and food for this stretch.
His finishing move is the Chain Pull. Infernal Chains erupt at the center and drag every player within range steadily inward, then explode for 12 damage, more fire, and a massive knockback. When you feel yourself being pulled, sprint against it and get out of the central blast zone before the chains detonate.
Special Mechanics
Above all, Lord Tromos heals himself. If he goes about ten seconds without taking any damage, he begins regenerating 5 health every second, and with 600 health to start that can undo minutes of work. Constant damage is not optional, it is the core of the fight.
During each phase transition he is invulnerable for several seconds while a frost shockwave shoves nearby players back and chips at them. Do not waste swings on him here; drink a potion, eat, and step back to safety. His airborne deflect shield works the same way, eating your arrows whenever it flares, so persistence beats panic.
He also cannot be knocked back at all and is immune to fire and lava, which removes a lot of the usual cheese strategies. With his leash to the altar, you are committed to a stand-up fight in his arena from start to finish.
Drops
When Lord Tromos falls, the storm overhead clears at once. He leaves behind a single guaranteed reward and a huge dump of experience.
The Soul Binder is the prize and the reason most players take on this fight. This epic diamond-tier sword hits for 8 base damage and adds a special right-click soul blast that knocks back and damages every enemy around you. Read the full breakdown on its own page; as a boss reward it is instantly one of the strongest melee options you can carry.
Strategy
Preparation wins this fight more than reflexes. Bring the heaviest armor you can craft, a reliable melee weapon for the ground phases, and a bow with a deep stack of arrows for when he flies up. Fire Resistance helps enormously against his fireballs and the soul fire, and a good supply of Golden Apples or healing keeps you in the fight through the transitions.
In the ground phases, stay close enough to land melee hits but keep moving so the Frost Nova lines and homing fireballs miss. Treat the summoned minions as a distraction and keep your damage flowing into the boss, because every pause lets him start healing.
When he flies up at 66% health, retreat to the edge of the arena away from the soul fire and switch to your bow. Expect his shield to swallow some arrows and simply keep firing until it drops. In the final phase, never hug the center, spread out so the Chain Pull cannot trap you, and sprint clear of the chains before they explode.
FAQ
Craft a Dark Codex from eight Torn Pages of the Ritual and a Book, place it on the Lectern in the Glacial Sanctum, and surround it with at least seven lit candles. The candles trigger the ritual and Lord Tromos rises from the altar.
If he goes about ten seconds without taking damage, he regenerates 5 health every second. Keep up constant attacks throughout the fight so he never gets the chance to recover.
In the second phase he teleports onto an ice platform out of melee range, so you need a bow. He raises a shield that destroys some of your arrows, so just keep firing and wait for the shield to drop between volleys.
He always drops the Soul Binder, an epic diamond-tier sword with a special soul blast attack, plus a large amount of experience. It is a guaranteed reward, so you only need to beat him once to claim it.
Not really. He is leashed to his summoning altar and will not follow you more than about 20 blocks away, so retreating just resets the fight. It is better to use the space at the edge of the arena to heal and dodge than to try to escape.
Yes. He takes no damage from fire or lava and cannot be knocked back, so trap-based and environmental strategies do not work on him. You will have to defeat him with direct damage instead.
